The Worst McDonald's Happy Meal Toys:
Starting off we have Mufasa's death puzzle of the Lion King, yes you heard me correctly. In the UK and Germany, instead of a joyful toy, McDonald's put out a Happy Meal with a 35-piece puzzle capturing the movie's saddest scene, young Simba crying over his freshly murdered father from the movie. This alone is super depressing for anyone who saw the movie, but imagine being spoiled of a sad death by your HAPPY meal on the way to the theater.
Up next is the Pakistan Sonic LCD Game Toys from 2004. The actual handhelds are about as lame as any other LCD game. What brings this down to rock bottom is the marketing, specifically the super low-budget commercials with God awful voice acting and even worse lore mistakes. It features my favorite character, Rouge the Mouse!
Next up is the American Idol MP3 Player from 2007, or at least kids actually thought it was one since it looked very much like an iPod. But instead, it's just a plastic novelty that only repeatedly played the show's theme song and it doesn't even sound good. That's common practice for a McDonald's Toy but NOT common knowledge for the kids.
Let's not forget the Step-It Fitness Trackers from 2016. Cool in concept with activity trackers to promote healthy lifestyles, but quickly backfired and had to be recalled due to the band causing skin burns. Plus this is McDonald's, I don't think they can really promote a 'health' lifestyle.
And finally we have the Wizard of Oz Dolls from 2008, most of them have become valued collector's items, however it's specifically the Winged Monkey Baby we have here. Tons of kids and even parents found this thing terrifying. This makes Mountain Dew's Puppy Monkey Baby look like the cutest thing in the world.
