Carlsbad Caverns National Park

We've been in a lot of caves on our adventures, but there is one cave that stands out in my mind as particularly impressive in both its size and variety of formations. Its nestled in Guadalupe Mountains of Southeastern New Mexico, and draws visitors from the world over. Of course we are talking about non other than the famous Carlsbad Caverns.
Carlsbad Caverns was designated a national park in the year 1930 and boasts an impressive collection of caverns. When planning your trip to Carlsbad you have several options of things to do. The main cavern is of course a given, but there are also several ranger led excursions that allow you to explore other caves and less visited parts of the main cavern. If these excursions interest you make sure to reserve your place online ahead of time, as the tours fill up fast and are limited in number. Besides The caverns there are places to camp and hike above ground in the park and enjoy the diverse desert flora and fauna of the Guadalupe Mountains. Another popular activity is to watch the flight of the bats in the evening.
