Canyoneering Slidenide Canyon - Utah
Never heard of this canyon before this trip. @KarlDeckerPresents recommended we check it out, so that's what we did.
And man, was it fun. There are a lot of different styles of canyoneering. Wet slot canyons in Zion National Park, big open drops in Sedona, fast water of the PNW, but it's the friction climbing / canyoneering in SE Utah that I find I'm most comfortable with. Sure, it's like holding your clothes and gear up to a belt sander, but man, it's fun. 50' off the deck? We don't need a rope, just slide right down.
Slidenide lives up to it's name. Just a series of tricky downclimbs in quick succession, culminating in a staged rappel into an impossible crack right at the end. Yeah, you can skip the ropes and downclimb everything, but I'm a little averse to pushing my bridging game too far. So we opted to break out the rope on a couple, just to be safe.
And that's all I've got to say about that.
