Goblin Valley - Wildhorse Window, The Yurt & More
Hey! We went to Goblin Valley State Park! Actually, we planned an entire trip around Goblin Valley State Park because I got the sought after yurt at their campgrounds. Not just any old Goblin Valley State Park yurt, but Yurt 1. There are two yurts and they're both great, but Yurt 1 is tucked back away further from the road. It's....pretty cool.
Anyway, we spent the day at the park checking out some of the best sites. First, we stopped at the Wildhorse Window trailhead and checked it out. We actually had the entire place to ourselves during the solar eclipse, which was amazing. The window itself is amazing, but add in a solar eclipse and some petroglyphs and it's extra special.
After that, we decided to check out the Goblin's Lair. We tried this a few years ago, actually even taking canyoneering gear because you can rappel down into Goblin's Lair from the top. Maybe one of these days....Next up was Goblette's Lair, which I didn't even know existed, but the trail kept going and we followed it to Goblette's Lair. Very similar to Goblin's Lair only not quite as big.
Finally it was time to check out Valley of the Goblins. There are several areas with the hoodoos that give the place it's name, but we were running out of daylight and steam...and we had that yurt to go back to.
And...that's about it. Goblin Valley State Park is pretty amazing. And if you can get that yurt, it's even more fun.
Have I said yurt enough? I feel like I probably have. Every time I say it in my head, I say it in a Swedish accent. Or at least what I imagine it sounds like. Anyway, yurt.
