Basic Horse Training | Canter Transitions - How To Ask For Canter @BasicHorseTraining | Uploaded February 2021 | Updated October 2024, 1 hour ago.
In this video, I will show you canter transitions and how to ask for canter. I will show you the when, why and how I ask for canter.

How you ask for canter is important for you to know and for the horse to understand otherwise how does your horse know you want him to canter. You could just be asking for a faster trot! Canter aids help your horse improve his canter transitions and this includes trot to canter transitions as well walk to canter transition and the halt to canter transition. Once he has an understanding of the aids, it will even help with flying changes. I hope this video helps you get a clear understanding of the canter aids as they are part of your dressage training.
