Canon C50 vs Canon R5 C dual native ISO: here’s why I prefer 3200 over 6400 for real-world shooting.
Low light is great… until your highlights clip—let’s talk highlight rolloff, dynamic range, and ISO “sweet spots.”
The Canon C50 is an incredible-looking cinema camera on paper (800 / 6400 base ISO). But depending on how you shoot, the Canon R5 C’s 800 / 3200 dual gain can actually be the better practical choice—especially when you care about highlights, neon signs, street lights, and clean rolloff at night.

• What dual native / dual gain ISO actually means (and why it’s a big deal)
• Why ISO 6400 can blow highlights faster in real locations
• Why I like living at 800 and 3200 on the R5 C
• Highlight rolloff differences (and why it can look like “posterizing”)
