The Canon 70D is the first DSLR to successfully include a useable autofocus (AF) system.

Using the new continuous AF, along with the face-tracking mode, makes for a powerful production tool for the YouTubers and any solo producers.

You can sit in front of the camera, use a shallow depth of field (this video shot at F2.8) and the camera will keep your face in focus throughout your video.

In this demo you can see subtle shifts in the focus as I move around the frame. For this video I used a Canon 35mm F2 IS lens. When used in conjunction with a Canon STM lens, the AF feature is even smoother.

While not perfect (no AF is) the new autofocus system that Canon has included on the 70D works very well and while this camera is my current favorite crop sensor camera, I would probably not consider upgrading unless the continuous AF feature is something you think you absolutely need. That said, the 70D has some other wonderful improvements such as a very responsive touchscreen and pro features like White Balance Shift.
