Prevention of cancer metastasis is a central challenge in cancer therapy. Therefore, it is of great interest to gain a better understanding of the interactions involved in this process. The extracellular matrix in the tumor environment is known to be a key player in cancer cell invasion. In this video, Annalena Laurent, based on the work of Lang et al. and Ahmadzadeh et al., illustrates how changes in the mechanical properties of the extracellular matrix can affect the invasiveness of breast cancer cells.
