I had heard stories of a lush green paradise that lay on Canada's west coast, untill recently I brushed these off as mere fantasy, A green rainforest? In January? In CANADA?! Yea ok and Jefferey Epstein killed himself too right?

I had been to Whistler multiple times and even Vancouver even more times, but I had never made the short drive up the Sea to Sky Highway to the small Ski town of Squamish BC. That being said it's no secret, I was told a story by a rec site manager that they have actually had to hire more peace officers to deal with illegal parkers during the summer. It turns out Squamish in the summer is more popular than in the winter, No surprise there. But due to the increase in vehicle-dependent travelers we as a group are plugging up their local streets with vans and stealth campers. This reminded me that as travelers we may be able to feel at home everywhere but that doesn't make it so, and just like we should be mindful of our impact on the wild places we visit we should also be mindful of the local communities we visit as well, especially during peak tourism times.
We were stashed about 25 minutes north of Squamish down an extremely rough forest service road. The morning brought the most idyllic and picture-perfect morning in the high mountains of the west coast. The clouds would cling to the high forest pines as the sun beckons the living to rise, like a smokey veil they fell to the floor beneath the frost-covered peaks and the sun rises above them to greet us with the day's ration of sunshine. A man his dog and a tackle box, I could cast here not catching a thing and still leave fulfilled. You need to visit here, Do it in the winter, it's a nice break!
