Vietnam is a cheap country to live in. But how cheap is it really? We set ourselves the challenge of eating for a whole day with just US$1. You won't believe what we ate!
We have done several videos about the cost of living in Vietnam and about Vietnamese street food. One thing that you often hear foreigners living in Vietnam say is that it's even cheaper to eat out than to cook at home. That clearly doesn't make any sense at all so we wanted to challenge ourselves. Can you eat healthily for just US$1 for a whole day.
Our experiment took us to the local market in Da Nang, Vietnam. We knew that this was the best place to take advantage of the low prices and to get some delicious fresh ingredients for low prices.
Because we wanted to save food and spend as little money as possible, we decided not to eat meat and go vegetarian for the day. We've seen that there are actually a lot of vegetarian restaurants for local people and I know there will be people watching our videos and wondering what it's like to be vegetarian in Vietnam. We aren't vegetarian or vegan ourselves but this was a great way to cut down on our meat consumption and save money at the same time.
