Welcome to Part 3 of my Husqvarna Chainsaw Rebuild Series!
This project started out as 3 parts, but there was so much detail that I expanded it into a 5-part series to cover everything properly.

I completely tear down, service, and clean the carburetor on this Husqvarna chainsaw. If your saw only runs on choke, stalls when you give it gas, or just refuses to start, the carb is often the culprit. I’ll show you exactly how to strip it, clean it, and prepare it for reassembly.

Because of their simplicity of use, they may be used by both inexperienced and seasoned mechanics, encouraging safer and more effective fuel mixing techniques. $Easily adjust Metering Lever (2-Stroke Carburetor Chainsaw) The metering lever inside a small 2-stroke chainsaw carburetor is absolutely vital because it controls the needle valve that regulates fuel entering the metering chamber. If the lever is set too high, the needle opens too much, flooding the carb and causing problems like hard starting, rich running, or fuel leaking out the exhaust. If it’s set too low, the needle doesn’t open enough, and the engine starves for fuel — leading to lean running, bogging, or even engine damage. That’s why the lever has to sit at the exact correct height. On most Walbro and Zama carbs, the tip of the lever should be level with, or just slightly above, the carb body surface where the diaphragm sits. To set it: Remove the metering cover, diaphragm, and gasket. With the carb body facing up, place a small flat-blade screwdriver, pick, or proper metering lever gauge across the carb surface. The top of the lever should just touch the straight edge. If it sits high, bend the spring end of the lever down slightly. If it sits low, bend it up slightly. Make small adjustments, as even the tiniest change alters fuel delivery dramatically. So then, the metering lever is the “fuel gatekeeper.” If it’s off by even a fraction, the carb won’t meter correctly.
