Build robot. Compete on a global stage. Get homework done. Welcome to the world of FIRST Robotics. There are nearly 4,000 high school teams across the world striving to win the FIRST Robotics Championships. Markforged followed Boston's own FRC Team 125, the NUTRONs, to see if using Markforged technology could help them overcome improbable odds.
In our second installment, we meet back up with the NUTRONs in Revere, MA for their home event. Roughly 40 highly competitive teams from the New England district compete in this event every year, all them eager and hopeful they can score enough points to make it the FIRST World Championships. With a tough performance in their first two matches of the season, the NUTRONs are ready to prove that the robot they’ve built, Free Fall, can compete and outperform. Can they succeed? Let’s find out.
