Micromobility devices like e-bikes and e-scooters, along with everyday essentials such as phones, laptops, and tablets, keep college life moving.
But many students don’t realize the fire risks associated with these devices if they’re not used properly.
Check out the second video in a series created by NFPA communications co-op student Nikka Boyle from Northeastern University, who shares practical tips for reducing fire hazards when using lithium-ion battery-powered devices:
· Buy only listed products – Look for a trusted safety certification mark.
· Charge devices safely – Use only the charger that came with your device. Don’t charge overnight or use damaged chargers/batteries.
· Store devices properly – Keep batteries away from extreme heat, direct sun, or anything flammable.
