A man accused of threatening to blow up a Sunoco gas station in the Village of Camillus and starting a fire inside the business was arrested Saturday night after a standoff that drew a large multi-agency response, police said.
Just before 9:00 p.m. on Saturday night, Camillus police responded to a reported robbery in progress at the Sunoco Gas Station on Genesee St. involving a male suspect who was reportedly claiming to possess explosives. Police said the suspect told employees and customers he had explosives and threatened that they would die if they did not leave the business. There were also reports that the suspect was armed with a knife.
Employees and customers were able to escape without injury while the suspect remained inside, police said.
