in January of 2023, I took Amtrak Capitol Corridor down to Santa Clara, CA. It was a cold, wet wintery day but I did not let that stop me. With the catenary wires going up quick overhead, I knew the diesels were soon to be a sight no more. I wanted to take some trips down to see Caltrain a few more times to capture the F40s and MP36s in all their glory. Nothing beats the EMD throttle up of those F40s, it is music to everyone's ears. The F40s that I saw were JPBX 901, JPBX 914, JPBX 903, JPBX 913, JPBX 909, and JPBX 908. Definitely a nice variety of locomotives to capture in their element. There are some cool shots in this video, my favorite being the reflection of a Caltrain pulling into the station. There were some nice crews whom are always appreciated. I also caught some Capitol Corridor trains, an ACE train, and the southbound Amtrak Coast Starlight. I ended up taking the train back to Martinez, CA to see the late westbound California Zephyr with AMTK 161 "phase I" on point. Oh do I miss the days of the angy fach... I hung around until the next eastbound Capitol picked me up and returned me to Davis. Enjoy the classics!
Thanks for watching! đđŧ
