William Byron dominated the Xfinity 500 at Martinsville, the penultimate race in the 2025 NASCAR Season, punching his ticket to the Championship 4 race in Phoenix where he’ll try to win his first NASCAR Cup Series title.
Byron battled Ryan Blaney late in the race, taking the lead back from Blaney with a ballsy, 3 wide move below Blaney and a lap car, shoving the 12 car up the track and never giving up the lead again.
Blaney, who started 31st, drove his way to the front of the pack, using raw speed, great pit stops and a bit of pit strategy when the cautions flew. He led 177 laps but couldn’t find a way to catch back up to Byron, even when a late race caution gave him a fighting chance.
Blaney needed to win the race to advance to the final 4. Byron’s teammate, Kyle Larson, was able to get enough points in the race to advance to the final four over Christopher Bell, Joey Logano and Chase Elliot.
Denny Hamlin, Chase Briscoe, William Byron and Kyle Larson will compete for the 2025 NASCAR Cup Series Championship at Phoenix on November 2nd.
