Draw Curiosity 2016 in Review - Thank You! Draw Curiosity 2016-12-31 | Happy New Year and thanks for an amazing 2016! Sure, globally 2016 hasn't been great, but from the perspective of this little project on the internet, it couldn't have gone better.This video is quite self-indulgent, but I wanted to give a short history of the origin of this project, a summary of 2016 for Draw Curiosity, lots and lots and lots of thank yous and what is to come in 2017! Apologies for the audio quality - on the one hand, I don't have the best set up at home (no lights and depending on where you are, it can be noisier), but I also had a dreadful cold which had me bedridden for a few days, so I didn't get a chance to find a better location to shoot either because I was too ill.2017 - to reiterate:The plan is to front load as much work as possible. How To Build A Cyborg Beetle Draw Curiosity 2016-10-31 | I'm going to show you how to make your very own remote controlled insect in today's Draw Curiosity Halloween Special. The cyborg beetles research is from Prof. Michel Maharbiz and Hirotaka Sato's work from 2009 to the present day. You'll learn about insect flight, how to trigger it and how the direct flight muscles can be stimulated to control the beetle's steering system. Most impressively, they also found a way to control insect locomotion - not just in flight but on land too by controlling how the insects walk.-- ERROR CORRECTION --Quick note to mention I made a mistake from 1:39 - 1:47 (unless I'm forgiven for saying "which I think is the largest beetle...").Mecynorrhina torquata and mecynorrhina torquata ugandensis are not the largest beetles in the world, but rather, amongst the largest flower beetles (which are the ones that have a habit of flying).Beetle sellers and suppliers love mislabelling them and calling them Goliath beetles, which I think is where my confusion arose from.The rest of the information in the video should be correct - but please always let me know if you spot any mistakes.
