What does it take to help shape a city?

For Martin Petersen, Country Director Denmark, that answer lies in strong client relationships, collaborative teams, and projects that leave make a lasting impact on the places around us.

To celebrate our fiftieth anniversary, colleagues across the practice are sharing their experience working at Buro Happold. Next in our series is Martin Petersen, who has spent more than a decade helping grow our presence in Denmark.

Martin has seen first-hand how Buro Happold contributes to Copenhagen's development. He highlights landmark projects including the five-star Sankt Petri Hotel (now 1 Hotel Copenhagen), where our team delivered complex technical upgrades within a historic structure with a strong focus on material reuse, and Lille Langebro, a bridge that strengthens connections across the city for the thousands who walk and cycle across it every day.

The most rewarding part of working at Buro Happold for Martin is not only the projects themselves, but the clients, colleagues and shared values of curiosity and collaboration – qualities that our clients recognise and that continue to shape the way we work together. Looking back over our 50 year history, Martin is proud that these values remain as relevant today as ever.
