At the last Health Toronto by TechTO, Laird Russell, CEO & Co-Founder of ExaCare AI, shared a powerful founder story rooted in lived experience. After multiple traumatic brain injuries ended his Division I hockey career at Brown University, Laird shifted his purpose toward transforming healthcare.

Today, he leads ExaCare AI, a health-tech company improving post-acute care operations and driving better outcomes for seniors through intelligent, tech-enabled workflows. Previously, Laird co-founded Galea Health, a proactive mental-health platform for athletes featured in TIME, Teen Vogue, and BBC, and built his strategic foundation at Goldman Sachs and Bain & Company.

This talk explores resilience, healthtech innovation, and why equitable care requires both technology and humanity.
