The industry will do whatever it takes to force a horse to race. A common industry practice is to twist the horses ears. This causes them considerable pain, forcing them to comply in a situation they clearly do not want to be in and for many is terrifying.
Four year old Wheelitin was eventually taken from the barriers and scratched from the race following a vet exam. Her potential injuries were not noted.
