Let's look at British and Spanish Ancient DNA, respectively. We're going to use two modern people, one from the UK, and the other from Spain. Because The UK and Spain are large areas, we'll be more specific than just British and Spanish. We are going to look at the differences between a modern English person with a long standing history in England, and a modern Cantabrian person with a long standing history in Cantabria. The English is a friend, and the Cantabrian is my cousin.
A couple of points before we get going, The ancient results for each, only include the ancient samples that have been found and tested for. And these two modern people, the English and the Spanish person, are 2 individuals out of a larger population of people, and there would be different results, at least in part, if other people from their areas were to be tested too.
But in a broad sense, these results represent a general picture, on a sliding scale, of what you'd find from people in their respective locations, in an ancient sense, when comparing DNA. But to be very clear, DNA similarities and or differences, are more of a sliding scale between people. There is no solid cut off line from a person from one area or another. Instead, people are a blend of earlier populations back in time, and from multiple ancient people.
