This video is part 1.5 of my Big Y 700 series.
In the first episode I sent off the Y 700 kit, and went through some of the results from online free to use tests, such as the Morley and Caldefinder.
I just received my initial results, where they give me my broad haplogroup,
and then there's 2 more lab results, that will refine my haplogroup closer in time, to whatever degree they can.
To recap my origins, my direct paternal line, documented with birth, marriage, and death records, is from Cantabria, Spain.
my 5th great-grandfather, was Juan de la Riva Escagedo, who was born about 1725, in Renedo de Pielagos. I have his marriage record from June of
1749, when he married Josepha de Escagedo Mazo, my 5th great-grandmother. So I have my surname coming from both sides of my paternal lines, on various occasions across the centuries.
Ultimatly, my origins are in Spain, yet I'm American. And that is because my paternal grandfather, Eloy Escagedo Valle, relocated to Cuba, from Spain, in 1930. And this migration occurred along most of my family lines, within the past 100 years, in that they relocated from various parts of Spain,
including the Canary Islands. Likewise, I have and Italian branch, as well as a long standing Cuban branch, likely originating from Spain
earlier.
Then, due to the Cuban revolution, in 1959, all my family lines came to Miami, Florida, in the 1960s, where my parents met, and then I came along.
I fall under the R-M269 haplogroup. And this is a preliminary result. It's being refined to a more closer in time result, and we'll take a look at that in part 2 of this Big Y 700 series.
