These were made in 1980 to run 12V radio equipment rather than the usual 13.8V requirement. Lots of walkie talkies & emergency radios are 12V & running them on 13.8V would kill them. I've been looking for one of these for years. The electronics is based around a L123 regulator IC. The uA723 is a pin for pin replacement.

The manufacturer says these are up to 2.5A output. I tested it at that & that is true.
