For this Expert Series talk, we were honored to host an expert in respiratory care for ALS, Dr. Jason Ackrivo.
Dr. Ackrivo is Assistant Professor of Medicine and Neurology at the University of Pennsylvania Perelman School of Medicine and Associate Director of the Jay and Randy Fishman Program for Home Assisted Ventilation Pulmonary, Allergy, and Critical Care Division.
This webinar focused on respiratory care for ALS patients, covering topics such as the impact of muscle weakness on breathing, prediction models for respiratory insufficiency, and the use of non-invasive ventilation.
Various strategies for managing respiratory symptoms were discussed, including the importance of proper mask fit, pressure settings, and techniques for addressing secretions and atelectasis.
