Boston Sonic Boom Is A MUCH Bigger Event Than Expected
NASA confirmed Saturday's Boston sonic boom was a meteor traveling 75,000 mph that exploded with 300 tons of TNT energy.
New data from NASA and the American Meteor Society reveals that a natural meteoroid exploded high above New England on May 30, 2026, fragmenting at approximately 40 miles altitude over the Massachusetts–New Hampshire border. The shockwave was heard from Delaware to Montreal.
In this investigation, I walk through the official NASA findings, the GOES satellite imagery, the location of the atmospheric breakup, and why the event may have been much larger than initially reported. We will also examine the unusual 3.9σ fireball statistic, what it means, and whether this event changes how we should look at other recent atmospheric phenomena.
Was this simply a routine bolide, or does the data reveal a much bigger story?
