Since the very first time I saw this exact BMW M3 E30 during a WRCTeam event here in Italy I hoped to be able to make some proper audio recordings one day, focusing especially on the wonderful intake sound that this car produces.

Last October I managed to have my (first) opportunity but unfortunately it didn't quite go as planned. Or better: the audio recordings side is definitely accettable (yet still improvable) but due to a technical problem the owner of the E30 had to stop after just 15 mins and he wasn't able to continue the track day. For this reason I didn't manage to get neither any of my usual external footage nor a proper cockpit view and this is why I decided to upload the good, yet incomplete footage here on my second channel rather than the main one. I'm pretty confident a second occasion will come in the future!

The car you hear in this video was born as a road-legal M3 E30 and it was modified over the years to make it as closer as possible to a Group-A E30 featuring a very track-focused setup, a reduction in the total weight, modified exhaust and the mandatory carbon airbox. I'm not 100% sure but the engine should have tons of other mods starting with and increased displacement of 2.5-litre (from the original 2.3-litre), cams and pistons.

The video you're watching up here is the result of two GoPros I placed on the front and rear bumper (this last one should have been pointing directly on exhaust but due to some initial lack of time in adjusting the GoPro's mount I provisionally placed it in that way and I would have changed it for the following stint), plus a microphone inside the engine bay. I divided the video in chapters where you can hear the sound of the engine merged with the exhaust one or where you can appreciate both the engine and the exhaust audio alone.
