While in Misano for the 2018 DTM race weekend I took the chance to have a 10 minutes session at the "Misanino" (Little Misano) Kart Circuit with a Sodi GTMax 125cc Rotax kart. Not very easy to learn the track with such a little and fast toy, but when I knew I could rent an "entry level" 2-stroke Go Kart, which allows you to understand a few things and compare how faster a real, lightweight 125 competition kart could be, my choice was mandatory...

A few laps of Mugello Circuit trying to tame this 1200hp Supra Mk4 with a pretty nice sound mod, especially for the external view (you can find the link to the mod below here).
Talking about the car, its basically a boat on four wheels, always floating on the asphalt in search of both front and rear grip. Well, I drove it with the stock setup, so it could be that it handles a bit better with different parameters (I would focus on reducing understeer) but for sure itll always have that dancing rear under acceleration due to the immense power. Be careful with the brakes because the harder you hit them the more the Supra wobbles.
Of the 5 laps I did, the first 3 are those where I tried to drive as clean as possible in order to set a good lap time, while the last 2 are basically non-sense ones, using lower gears in corners, hitting the throttle too early and doing wrong trajectories... In short, the laps you can do only in video games without being afraid of broke the car or get hurt in an accident.
Since I really like the external sound, I also recorded some scenes taken from the replay, trying to reproduce the positions where I usually film/take pictures when Im at Mugello Circuit during race weekends, and of course edited them together to make a complete external lap.

I was recently browsing through the folders on one of my hard disks and to my surprise I found this gameplay video that I recorded and edited back in January 2023. Yes, I didnt mix up the years.. It actually remained in my archives for a whole year without me remembering that it was ready to be posted and this makes you understand how much I have neglected my second channel in the last few years 🥲
So this is about some fictional recreation I wanted to put together of one of the very first video I saved on my favorites list back on Google Video. And yes Im talking about that old Googles free video hosting service which was used before they acquired Youtube in 2006/2007. Well that clip literally made me fall in love with the raw power of the Ferrari 412 T2 F1 car, driven in total anger by Gerhard Berger during the 1995 Monte-Carlo GP. Many years ago Ive already tried to assemble this recreation on various racing games but Ive never managed to obtain a result that satisfied me both due to my poor driving skills and the cheap gaming setup I had at the time. Now that Ive improved on both fronts what Im missing is a bit of free time to upload gameplays in a frequency better than one every three years.
So this gameplay was recorded on the fantastic Automobilista 2, a racing simulator game created by @ReizaStudios and released in 2020, which I managed to get my hands on properly only last winter (2022-2023) when it was updated to V1.4.5.2 version. In the meantime the game has been further improved by making changes to the physics of the cars and tires and the V1.5.5.4 version just got released, which I still have to try.
Enjoy some laps I did of the Circuit de Monaco with Reizas Formula V12, a 412 T2 in disguise, trying to replicate (sometimes a little too exaggeratedly) those amazing Bergers powerslides!

The Metro 6R4 is one of the cars whose sound has been best reproduced on Dirt Rally 2.0. And here you can have a taste of it. I wasnt in Max Attack mode but still I did some miss-downshifts for the rush, which led me to miss the apex in some corners. (Only chase view from 6:14)

Point 1: the race.
Yesterday I went to Kart & Go Como, an indoor karting venue in Italy, for the second race of an amateur championship Im doing with the Scuderia Ferrari Club of Como. The format was 10 minutes of qualifying and 15 minutes of race with a mandatory pit-stop of 20 seconds. I started from the 6th place and I was sure someone in front of me would have done his pit-stop in the first lap (you could do it at any time during the race, but only one driver at a time). But they took me off guard and I tried to took advantage of it by doing mine immediately. I thought it would work better, but the fact of having entered the pits with cold tires, that resulted in doing the following lap still with cold tires and losing a little too much time compared to my front rivals. All the rest is in the video. I have to admit it was one of the most enjoyable races I had so far even if I finished in 6th place!
Best Lap: 33.445
Kart: Sodi SR4 Honda 200cc 4-strokes
Point 2: GoPro Hero 7 Black. Im testing this new action camera since January and Im still not happy, mostly about the audio. I was using the Super Suit case, with the opened rear door, and audio setted to stereo (not auto or windshield mode). I was hoping the wind noise it wouldnt have been excessive, but I was wrong. Still too much for my tastes, and compared to my beloved old Hero 4. Need to try other settings next time.
Hypersmooth stabilization improves a lot the general video, but using it with karts and lots of vibrations, I noticed too much artifacts are created to stabilized the image. Maybe with a more narrow FOV, the Hero 7 stabilizer works better..

Heres a first attempt to upload a 360° video, kindly provided by my friend and driver Marco Ulivi and taken with his GoPro Max. Yes, Ive already told him to try and change some settings for his next races (higher fps) and especially to always clean the protective lenses before each runs hehe.
Anyway, forgetting about the quality, enjoy Marco attacking the fast course of the Bologna-Raticosa hillclimb during his first (out of two) race heat, with a time of 256.77!
(I noticed 360° videos are more optimized for smartphones and VRs than on pc/laptop, so consider them if you want to enjoy the clip at its best)
The Bologna-Raticosa is a famous Italian hillclimb, held for the first time in 1950 on a course of around 42 km from Bologna to the Raticosa Pass. The last historic edition was held in 1969 on a course that was 10km shorter than the original one. In 2001 historic cars were able to race again on this course thanks to Scuderia Bologna Squadra Corse but only on a 6.2 kilometer course that winds between the villages of Pianoro Vecchio and Livergnano. The race is valid for the Campionato Italiano di Velocità in Salita per Auto Storiche (Italian Hillclimb Championship for Historic Cars) but during these new modern editions the organizers also allow a small group of more recent race cars to attack the hillclimb course but without affecting the historic championship standings (like the Radical in this video).
Ive already shared with you a few videos about this lightweight weapon on my main channel. Painted to recall the JPS colours, this particular Radical is a 1100 Clubsport that was upgraded with the aero kit coming from the Radical Prosport model, such as rear wing, diffuser and front flaps. The Radical 1100 Clubsport was the companys first car, built from 1997 to 1999. It was a small open-cockpit chassis powered by Kawasaki ZZR1100 engine, featuring a max power of 145hp (120hp at rear wheels), for a total weight of only 420kg. It was mostly raced in the UK in a one-make series based around the car. In particular Marcos one is the last Clubsport chassis built by the company.

Tryed to climb the global rankings for the Group A class in one of my favorite Dirt Rally 2.0 stage, called Comienzo De Bellriu, which is a pretty decent recreation of a real WRC stage located in Spain, crossing the village of El Lloar, called Bellriu in the game, and ending at La Figuera, called Centenera in game (You can watch the real life on board of the same road section, starting at 1:33 and ending at 9:13, in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=obxe4EuSaUE ).
In the end, the time I set placed me in sixth position over 8,000 other recorded times, with a gap of almost 4 seconds from the top position.
Last but not the least, the Delta Gr. A is yet an amazing example of how the sound of some Dirt Rallys cars has been perfectly reproduced. Enjoy!
