The Em Cosmetics Pillow Plush Blushes gave me a little trouble at first, but if you use the right tool, they’re beautiful.
The website describes these as “A highly sensorial blush with a unique cushion texture, leaving a flush of matte color, as pillowy and soft as a baby's cheeks.”
If you’re familiar with the Mac Glow Play Blushes, they’re similar in texture, but the Em Cosmetics Pillow Blushes had a bit of a learning curve for me. I first tried applying them with the tiny sponge they came with but the sponge was too small, so I switched to a bigger sponge which I find didn’t pick up enough product. Next, I tried a dense brush, but it was too big and dispensed way too much product, leading to a patchy cheek. Then I tried a fluffy brush and I couldn’t get enough pigment. When I applied the blushes with my fingers, they made my foundation break up. Finally, I tried them with the Beauty Pie foundation brush and we had a winner! I’d recommend applying these with a dense brush that isn’t too dense.
Peanut is a beautiful peachy beige that looks like my perfect my-skin-but-better shade in person, but on camera, I’ve noticed the shade makes me look bruised for some reason, so I’ve been reaching for Tickled, a stunning berry that warms up on the cheeks for the most gorgeous flush of a pinky berry shade. I’ll be reaching for it a ton in the fall and winter months!
Overall, I think this is a really nice launch from Em Cosmetics, and I like that they now have several blush formulas that consumers can choose from. I only hope they expand this shade range because the formula does look quite airbrushed on the cheeks and I love that effect!
