Welcome back! Today we’re talking about Blood Over Bright Haven, the second standalone novel by ML Wang.

This book is incredible! Powerful, moving, heartbreaking, and thought-provoking. It's a quick 430 pages, easy to read, and every page counts towards the plot.

It’s also dark academia, about the first women to earn a place in the magical academy, and her lab assistant who used to be a nomadic hunter until his land was cursed by the Blight.

It’s also heavy on the themes, tackling a multitude of prejudices, and taking a confronting look at colonisation. So it’s a short novel with incredible depth.
