The apostle Paul begins his letter to the church in Ephesus by recounting in one long run-on sentence the blessings believers have received in Christ. Before we were born, God the Father chose us in Christ to be holy and blameless. In Christ, we've been adopted into God's family. We've been redeemed through the blood of Christ, freed from the power and accusations of Satan, and forgiven of all our trespasses. It's almost too much for us to take in! "Blessed Be Our God and Father" helps us dwell on these precious realities, acknowledging that we did nothing to earn or deserve them. All the glory belongs to God alone, who has treated us with unthinkable kindness, for his everlasting praise and our ever-increasing joy.
