Issue 1 with how Jews are portrayed in period dramas, historical shows, and movies : Blatant anti-semitism or antisemitic dogwhistles. For example, please see Red Joan, which depicts nefarious characters as Jews even though their Judaism appears to have no real relevance to the plot. When a story makes a decision like this, ask yourself : What purpose does this serve, and what message does it give? Jewish history is full of good and bad people like the history of any other group, but to depict villains as Jews and never protagonists is a biased and anti-semitic story choice. It's important we learn to notice these patterns in what Jewish representation we get.
