Global News | Blair denies politics was a factor in warrant targeting Liberal powerbroker @globalnews | Uploaded October 2024 | Updated October 2024, 1 week ago.
Former public safety minister Bill Blair said Friday politics was not a factor when it came time to approve a spy service warrant to surveil an Ontario Liberal powerbroker.
There was a 54-day gap in 2021 between when the Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS) submitted the application for a warrant to when Blair eventually authorized it.
The delay with this particular warrant is now a central narrative in the second phase of Justice Marie-Josée Hogue’s public inquiry into foreign interference in Canadian elections.
Nathaniel Dove reports on what Blair says he knew — and didn’t know.
