Black Myth: Wukong - How to Unlock the Secret Boss Hiding in Plain Sight in Chapter 2

Hey everyone, welcome back to the channel! Today, we’re diving into one of the most challenging secret boss fights in Black Myth: Wukong—the Shigandang. This hidden Yaoguai King is not only tough but also deeply rewarding if you’re up for the challenge. If you're ready to uncover how to find and defeat this secret boss, stick around, and don’t forget to like and subscribe for more content!

To unlock the Shigandang boss fight, you’ll first need to collect six Buddha Statue Eyeballs scattered around the Fright Cliff area. They’re located near shrines and inside caves, so keep an eye out for large Buddha heads as you explore. Once you’ve gathered all six eyeballs, you’re ready to summon Shigandang.

Head over to the Rockrest Flat Shrine, where the Stone Vanguard resides. You’ll notice a large rock with many carved heads. This is where you can summon Shigandang, but be warned—this fight is no joke.

Shigandang shares an arena with the Stone Vanguard, but he’s far tougher. If you haven’t defeated the Stone Vanguard yet, you can summon Shigandang first. He’ll immediately engage in a brutal battle with the Vanguard, eventually tearing him to pieces with a flashy finisher. But as soon as the Vanguard falls, Shigandang will turn on you, and this is where the real challenge begins.

Shigandang starts by charging at you on all fours, slamming the ground with each step. If you’re not quick to retreat or use Cloud Step, you’ll find it hard to avoid his attacks. When he leaps into the air and slams down, watch out for stone pillars that shoot up near whichever part of his body you’re closest to. These pillars will glow and explode after a moment, so keep moving to attack a different part of his body.

When attacking from the front, be ready for backhanded sweeps along the ground that you can parry with Rock Solid, or dodge and keep your combo going. But don’t get too comfortable—if he pulls an arm back, he’s about to deliver a far-reaching, fast lunge punch followed by a ground slam. He also has an area-of-effect blast when he slams a fist down, so be ready to retreat and counter with a charged heavy attack while keeping your distance.

Shigandang has a massive attack to be wary of. He’ll lift an arm and a leg, then slam down to create a shockwave covering a large portion of the arena. All four of his limbs will glow, signaling a massive detonation. If you’re quick, you can use the Pillar Stance to gain height on your staff, but make sure you’re far from his body, or the initial blast could still knock you down.

One of his deadliest attacks has him stand on two legs and alternate delayed punches into the ground before slamming both hands deep into the earth. After a pause, he’ll rip them out, creating a line of exploding pillars in front of him. Steer clear of these and aim for his sides or back to stay in the fight.

If you’re struggling to deal enough damage, try using the Azure Dust Transformation. Your Rock Guai form can absorb damage while building up Might, then unleash a Rockfall attack for massive damage, potentially staggering him.

This fight is a battle of endurance. Shigandang has a lot of health and defense, so it’ll take time to chip away at him. Focus on avoiding or deflecting his big attacks, conserve your gourd uses, and you’ll eventually emerge victorious.

Defeating Shigandang will reward you with a Mind Core, 2 Yaoguai Cores, 1371 Will, and the Heart of Stone material, which lets you craft the powerful Cloud-Patterned Stone Staff. Plus, you’ll gain the Skandha of Feeling, the second mysterious Skandha Key Item after the Skandha of Form you found earlier in Chapter 1.
