🖤🐟 Black Carp – Mylopharyngodon piceus

These impressive Black Carp come from Hubei in central China, a region closely connected to the Yangtze River basin and known for its long tradition of freshwater fish farming.

In China, this species is called 青鱼 / qīngyú. Unlike Grass Carp, Black Carp are not mainly plant eaters. They have strong pharyngeal teeth that allow them to crush hard-shelled food such as snails and mussels — one of their most fascinating features.
