The Bitter Giuseppe was created in 2007 by Stephen Cole. It’s often compared to a Negroni because of its bitter finish, but the build is very different. This is one of the rare instances we'll stir a drink containing citrus. It's a great pre-dinner drink!
THE BITTER GIUSEPPE
2 oz. (60 ml) Cynar
1 oz. (30 ml) Sweet vermouth
1/4 oz. (7.5 ml) fresh lemon juice
4 dashes orange bitters (8 dashes if using Japanese dasher)
1 swath lemon peel
Expressed lemon oil and peel for garnish
Add ingredients to mixing glass and stir with ice (optional regal stir with expressed lemon swath). Strain over ice and top with expressed lemon oil.
