Aussie Garage | Bill's Rare 1960 Willys Jeep Restoration Completed in Country WA @AussieGarage | Uploaded February 2024 | Updated October 2024, 7 hours ago.
We Interview Bill about a year ago on our trip to Kulin in Country Western Australia regarding his 1960 Willys Jeep restoration. Now just to recap, Bill brought this Willys Jeep off a farmer that was having a clearance sale and this Jeep had been on the Farm its whole life from new. The Willy Jeep is 64 years old now, so this Jeep spent 60 years with one owner in Kulin WA.
Over the years on the farm this Jeep has had the farm fixes with wire, electrical tape, additional parts added and new engine, plus much more just to keep the car running for farm use. So Bill had is work cut out for him restoring this Jeep. It was lucky the original owner had the original engine for the Jeep as well. Bill had lots of rust to repair in the body and a lot of work to undo what was done on the farm to bring this Willys Jeep back to its former glory. Its a good thing that Bill in a Heavy Diesel Mechanic and is used to working on vehicles.
Aussie Garage told Bill that we would be back in a year and we did. So fast forward a year later and we are back. Now Bill has this Willys Jeep fully restored and licensed, plus he has been cruising around the Kulin neighbour hood. He had some issue with the restoration, such as the transfer case, rare parts required and more, but overall its been completed. The Engine has been fully rebuild to the original engine requirements and has a top speed of 70Km per hour. The Willys Jeep brake system is operating with its original system, which Bill has let us know it okay around Kulin Country Town but he would not use it in Perth City.
Its great to see the pride in Bill's face as he showing us this rare Willys Jeep that he is the second owner to now and its great that it has restored. Awesome job Bill and we will see you soon.
