This is one of my favorite things to play on the mandolin. It's fun for many reasons but one is that it's just such a part of the sound of the original recording - the fiddles playing the low part, and it is too often unheard in many jam sessions. So we're approximating a user-friendly Monroe Style way to play the low part of the melody which is definitely distinct from the other two parts. This is something that could help you get the nod in a jam session.
