Bestselling Christian Author Phillip Yancey Confesses to 8 year Affair with Woman Resigns from Ministry. A really enjoyed Yancey’s books: What's So Amazing About Grace?, The Jesus I Never Knew, Where Is God When It Hurts?, and Prayer: Does It Make Any Difference? But my favorite was, What's So Amazing About Grace?. The 76 year old Philip Yancey made the announcement yesterday which shocked the Christian world. Phillip Yancey sold more than 15 million copies of his books. He was also Christianity Todays Editor at large for 30 years. He has now thrown that all down the drain for a woman. Philip Yancey said in a statement: “To my great shame, I confess that for eight years I willfully engaged in a sinful affair with a married woman”. He went on to say “My conduct defied everything that I believe about marriage,” he continued. “It was also totally inconsistent with my faith and my writings and caused deep pain for her husband and both of our families. I will not share further details out of respect for the other family.” The well-respected author explained that he has confessed his sin “before God and my wife” and has committed himself to “a professional counseling and accountability program.” Yancey said his focus is on “rebuilding trust and restoring my marriage of 55 years” and that he is retiring from ministry. I talk about the church help restoring Philip to Christ and the body. Being restored doesn’t always include being restored to ministry. Philip Yancey seemed to suggest his retirement was permanent. I believe this is connect to the end times “great falling away”.
