Hey there, welcome to GamerU's video series for Best Fiends, here to give you some tips to help first time players out.
Here's something many first-time players don't notice right away:
- All damage you do towards the slug bad guys count.
- If you "overkill" a slug, the extra damage will get transferred to the next slug.
- It's possible to kill multiple slugs with one single overkilling combo.
- You want to get good at overkilling which will help you get the drop on more powerful slugs later on.
If you are ever stuck on a level, it will usually be because your characters are under-leveled or you are using the wrong character types. As far as leveling up quickly, without paying for it, it is best to just keep replaying the level you are losing on. If you fail a level, the game will compensate you with a free consolation prize of goodies. The prize improves the farther you are on the map, and in addition, you will keep all the meteor mites, diamonds, and keys you won during the level.
There are levels that are good for farming items on, Level 48 is great for collecting diamonds as you get 3 right at the beginning, but the on the whole, restarting a level can get you better goodies. Make sure never to manually restart a level as you won't get a consolation prize for it.
As far as what character types to use when, bomber characters are better for cramped boards, levels with lots of slugs, and levels where you have to get crates and Black Bombs for objectives. Connector Block characters are better for levels with wide open boards, and levels with objectives like color collecting and usually for diamond collecting. Usually it's best at least in your average level of the first 50 levels of the game to have evolved bomber characters with a good connector character to help clear the board of clutter and get rid of slug attacks.
Finally, make sure to plan your moves carefully. Sometimes, the biggest combo is NOT the right move. You instead want to set things up so that you get a bigger combo later, especially using chain reaction bombs.
Good luck out there guys, be sure to keep watching GamerU for more Best Fiends tips.
