Welcome to GamerU's tips and tricks for Best Fiends! Some levels will have Crates and Black Bombs in them.
Crates can be opened by forming combos around them.
- Three combos are enough to break open a crate, and you will get a reward of a pack of yellow meteor mites.
- In many levels, breaking open crates is actually a requirement; you can't skip them and must open them in addition to whatever else you need to finish the level.
Bomb pieces created by bomber characters can bust open crates with one shot, no matter if they are behind other pieces, debris, or even indestructible walls, making bombers extremely useful in crate levels. In fact, in some levels, you need to use bomb pieces because otherwise they will be out of reach of regular combos.
Black Bombs are another board bonus you can use, and can also be a level objective like crates sometimes are. They can only be triggered by another bomb piece explosion. When this happens, every single piece and bomb on the board will fly into the slug, delivering huge damage and probably not only kill it, but the next slug or two past it! The damage will be even more enormous if there are extra bombs out there. Unlike crates, combos do not trigger them though, only bomb explosions can. They can also fall downward like board pieces do if nothing is in their way.
In later levels, your main strategy for levels with Black Bombs available is to flood the board with bomb pieces but you do not use them right away. Instead wait for the last few heavy-duty slugs, the very last guy is usually a beast with high HP, and then detonate them all using the Black Bomb for an instant win.
