An impressive film from the Berlinale 2020 Encounters section. Die Letzte Stadt, or in English "The last city," is the new movie of director Heinz Emigholz. Set in five different cities the movie explores a wide array of topics: from family and war to time traveling and death. After the screening of Die Letzte Stadt, Heinz Emigholz shared his views about cinema in a very interesting Q&A, a good part of which you can watch in this video.
The movie plot from the Berlinale 2020 website: "An archaeologist and a weapons designer, who knew each other in a previous life as a filmmaker and a psychoanalyst, meet at an excavation site in the Negev desert and begin a conversation about love and war, which they continue in the Israeli city of Be’er Sheva. A series of encounters with alternating actors in different roles ensues, which leads the viewer through the cities of Athens, Berlin, Hong Kong, and São Paulo."
