Beluga whales living in a marine park in Ontario, Canada need urgent rescue and lifelong care, and Shedd Aquarium has been asked to help.
Very few institutions can answer a call for help like this. Shedd was asked to participate in this rescue because of what decades of scientific expertise, stringent accreditation by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA), and an unwavering commitment to what animal wellbeing actually looks like in practice – rigorous water quality standards, thoughtful habitat design, expert veterinary care, deep knowledge about beluga's nutritional and overall diet needs, and the facilities to responsibly support these animals long-term.
