We caught up with Edwin Carroll, Suckler Technologist at the Suckler Beef Village at #BEEF2026 to find out more about the Maternal Herd Study in Grange which is investigating the influence of early life nutrition on suckler bred calves, comparing both early and late maturing breeds.
The are currently calving heifers down at 24 months and breeding them all to female sexed semen. Heifers are bred using both synchronisation programmes and natural AI.
