Pokemon FireRed and LeafGreen are stunning and fascinating games- remakes of a game from a bygone era into something completely new and representative of a different time. While both heavily connected to the original Red and Blue but also something completely their own, these games are filled with fascinating choices and little oddities that make them not quite the same but not quite different when compared to the originals. And especially with the recent switch port thrown in, they inhabit a fascinating place in the zeitgeist.
These are a very special pair of games to me- almost entirely on the basis that they are filled with strange and endearing novelties that could only be the product of earnest experimentation when the series was trying to reinvent itself. As such, I bore my heart on this video in more ways than one. I hope you are able to enjoy it.
