The sixth edition of the Berlin Climate and Security Conference (BCSC) explored how to secure a climate for peace. The conference examined why climate must be integrated into peacemaking. Through taking stock of best practice examples, it advanced concrete climate security approaches and initiatives.

About half of post-conflict countries relapse into conflict within a decade, with conflicts becoming more complex and destructive. As reconstruction costs rise, there's a growing need to address socio-economic impacts and build resilience against future threats, including climate-related risks. This panel examined integrating climate-driven insecurity into post-conflict reconstruction, focusing on locally-led and multilateral actions, justice, and good governance. Discussions explored whether current reconstruction approaches meet these evolving needs and how security solutions can foster durable peace.

• H.E. Bogolo Joy Kenewendo, Managing Director, Kenewendo Advisory
• Dr. Elizabeth Carabine, Climate, Peace and Security Advisor, UN Office of the Special Envoy of the Secretary-General for the Horn of Africa
