British Columbia Premier David Eby announces in Surrey that Kwantlen Polytechnic University (KPU) will receive 462 new skilled-trades training spots in 2026, bringing the institution’s total number of training seats to 1,762 this year.
He is joined at the news conference by Jessie Sunner, B.C. minister of post-secondary education and future skills, and Mike Mann, electrical instructor at Kwantlen Polytechnic University.
Eby faces questions reporters on the recent meeting between premiers and Prime Minister Mark Carney, where the latest U.S. tariff threat was the main agenda item. He also comments on his government’s response to the ongoing wildfire situation in the province.
