Originally released for iOS in 2010, Battle Bears -1 is a third-person shooter prequel to the original Battle Bears Zombies, diving into the chaotic, over-the-top backstory of Oliver and his team. Developed by SkyVu, the game blends absurd humor with wave-based shooting action as players defend themselves from relentless hordes of rainbow-colored “Huggables.”
Set in the Battle Bears universe’s bizarre sci-fi world, the game offers a variety of weapons, upgradeable gear, and dramatic slow-mo headshots — all delivered with a heavy dose of cartoon gore and tongue-in-cheek dialogue. The gameplay is fast, the humor is unapologetically weird, and the tone walks the line between parody and chaos.
In 2020, Battle Bears -1 was re-released on Steam as a direct port of the original mobile game. While it now runs at a much higher resolution and supports mouse & keyboard controls, the rest of the experience remains identical to the mobile version — nostalgic quirks and all.
Whether you’re a longtime fan or revisiting it for the first time in years, Battle Bears -1 remains one of the more unique and bizarre shooters from the early days of mobile gaming. 🐻🔫
