Battery tray apron replacement is one of those jobs that decides whether the front of a 1970 Torino GT is solid or just hiding rust — and on "The Lizard," the original apron was done. In this episode we dry-fit the replacement apron to get the gaps and panel to fit right, and weld the new panel in so the front structure is sound again.

We walk through the fit-up, the tacking sequence, and why getting this panel square matters before any cosmetic work begins. It's the kind of foundational sheet metal repair that never shows up in the finished photos but makes the whole restoration possible.

In this episode we tackle the charging and battery cable system for a CVF serpentine setup running a 100-amp alternator and a front-mounted Group 24F battery, and I walk through the mistakes I made so you dont have to repeat them. We get into lug sizing — why 5/16 and 3/8 matter and where each one belongs — adding a fusible link close to the battery with a 125-amp Maxi fuse, why a proper block-to-firewall ground is non-negotiable on a Ford, and how to crimp clean, marine-grade welding-wire cables that wont corrode down the road. At the end, I lay out every cable length and lug size we used so you can build the same system in your own 67–68 Mustang or Cougar.
