A few days ago, I posted my Field Guide to Making Knobs, where I walked through three hardware methods: square nuts, threaded wood inserts, and T-nuts.
That video gave a quick overview of each method, with pros and cons to help you choose the right one.
But in this video, I’m slowing down and going deeper—focusing on how to batch out custom knobs using the threaded wood insert (TWI) method.
I needed to replace a few knobs I stole from my router jig… and ended up making a whole set.
This method is fast, easy, and surprisingly satisfying—especially when you’re using nothing but scrap wood, a handful of TWI's and a Post-it note.
You’ll see how I batch out 7 custom knobs in just about 7 minutes (with no jigs, no templates, and no stress).
