Basing a TV show on the X-Men is tough to do. It’s hard to work with so many characters in a way to do justice to any one of them. It’s hard to make the brand recognizable, across so many different faces. The characters are also pretty weird, and not all of them are immediately very appealing. And some of the themes and ideas that are explored are very controversial. So putting together a Saturday morning cartoon based on the X-Men? That took courage, but more than that, it took some very very clever writing.
